Attention Residents who work in the City of Washington:  Your local withholding may include the City of Washington’s Distress Tax of 1.635%.  These are NOT funds that are paid to South Franklin Twp so this excess withholding cannot be refunded to you by our office.  Please contact your payroll department with any questions.

Community Building/Pavilion Rental
South Franklin will be taking reservations for 2012 rental of the Community Building and Pavilion for South Franklin Townshipp residents only beginning Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 8:30 AM at the municipal building. Residents must apply in person and pay the deposit (Bldg. $100 and pavilion $125) when the reservation is made. Beginning March 1, 2012 reservations will be open to the public during regular office hours.

South Franklin Township is located in southern Washington County, Pennsylvania approximately 25 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.  The Township is home to over 3,310 (Census 2010) residents and is 21.1 square miles in area.  The predominance of development in the Township is residential in nature with nearly 50% of all land use classified as agricultural in character.

South Franklin Township is part of the McGuffey School District.  Residents are provided with a variety of municipal services including fire, planning, code enforcement, and recreation.  Township taxes are low and have not increased in ten years. The majority of the community’s population lives within close proximity to major transportation corridors (I-70, Route 18) that provide convenient access to the Pittsburgh metropolitan area in 30 minutes. The Township takes great pride in its heritage and character, and is dedicated to the continued delivery of quality services and the enhancement of the community’s overall quality of life.
