One proposal for a future Sewage System for South Franklin Township
Area A (not shown) is in Canton and part of North Franklin Township
Area B extends from southern North FranklinTownship into South Franklin Township by the airport
Area C is the proposed sewage area in South Franklin Township
Only the high density areas in the Chartiers watershed close to Route 18 would be included.
It would include the lower portions of Lagonda extending up to and including Franklin Manor.
The advantages of installing a sewage system soon would be:
May be able to get help from the Alex Paris Development.
May be able to get help from the county to help install the line to the airport.
May be able to get help from Franklin Manor because their treatment system is malfunctioning. DEP has required that the township take over the operation of the Franklin Manor Sewage Treatment System. The township is required to either make major repairs in the lines and treatment system or repair the lines and supply a new means of treating the sewage.
May be able to get financial help from the Lone Pine Development because they will be required to tap into the system.
May be able to get loans because many of our on-lot treatment systems are malfunctioning.
Will clean our streams and stop sewage from flowing on the surface.
Disadvantages of installing a sewage system at this time:
Cost to the homeowners.
It may potentially open up parts of the township to future development.
